Mario Davidovsky's Fragments String Quartet No. 6 received its New York premiere on February 6, 2017 at Alice Tully Hall. The piece was performed by the Juillard String Quartet in a program that included Mendelssohn’s first String Quartet and Beethoven’s Op. 130 (with the Grosse Fuge finale). The piece was reviewed for Sequenza 21 by Christian Cary Sequenza21, he thinks it a stirring example of a composers’ late style in the current era.
Below is footage from a December rehearsal before the premiere.
