Multiple Premieres at UK Contemporary Music Festival
Continuing the celebration of his 80th birthday, Christian Wolff will be making an appearance at this year's Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. First, he'll be on hand for the festival's opening concert on November 21, which will feature the Czech Republic's Ostrava banda performing 37 Haiku, Trust (in its UK premiere), and For Six or Seven Players and will be preceded by a talk between Wolff and ensemble conductor Petr Kotik. The following morning, pianist Philip Thomas will be giving the World Premiere performance of a new work from Wolff entitled Sailing On. Oculus, a new work for piano by Edition Peters composer Howard Skempton, will also be given it's World Premiere at this concert.
