NYC's Celebration of David Amram's 85th Birthday
December 21, 2015. The Theater of the New City will be presenting the final David Amram 85th birthday celebration event at 8PM tonight. This evening’s performance will include Finale of Ode to Lord Buckley, Greenwich Village Portraits and Amram’s Violin Sonata (performed by Elmira Darvarova) as well as works with his quintet and special guest artists from all aspects of the music spectrum. This evening will also include readings of On the Road set to music, a piece envisioned by Mr. Kerouac and Mr. Amram back in the late 1950s. The Theater of the New City located on 1st Avenue in Manhattan holds sentimental memories for Mr. Amram as it is where he met Woody Guthrie, Jack Kerouac, and Joe Papp. Mr. Amram considers the venue to be the perfect place to end his 85th birthday festivities because of those memories and his time in the neighborhood.
The event will begin at 8PM and last until 12AM.
Tickets are $20.00.
